Here We Grow Again - Syrah!

4 months ago we planted one acre of Syrah vines where Cabernet Sauvignon vines used to be. Imagine how sad we were to rip out all those Cab vines, but alas and alack, we had grafted new Cab vines numerous times and they just didn’t thrive in that one area. Apparently, 3 times was not a charm! So after discussions with our wine makers and vineyard manager we agreed that Syrah would be perfect as the climate in the Rogue Valley is similar to the growing season and climate of the Rhône Valley. . . and we love it! We actually purchased the vines almost two years ago, but knowing how severe last year’s draught would be, we chose to hold off a year before bringing them to Oregon to plant. Now they’re in the ground being watered and well-cared for. We’ll show them the love now, and they’ll show us the goods later. Can’t wait!
